Our symbol

We love our logo and don’t want to see it distorted, that’s why we’ve set a few ground rules on how to use it.

We always endeavor to hero our primary blue through our symbol. A Telenor blue symbol should be used on top of block color, art direction, and textured backgrounds.

White can also be used when placed over a primary blue block color, or textures and art direction that lacks sufficient contrast to showcase our primary blue at its best.

When it comes to our symbol with wordmark our primary blue must always play a lead role. On white we use our primary blue symbol, but when we want to show larger amounts of our primary blue we use our white symbol.

The symbol follows the same rules when locked up with the wordmark, as when it is used alone (see above). For the wordmark use dark version on light backgrounds and white on dark backgrounds to ensure legibility.

Our symbol should always be legible, have impact, and look its best. To ensure it has enough room to breathe, we give our logo a set ‘clear space’.

Our symbol offers flexibility when creating layouts. When placing the symbol, prioritise impact and visibility.

We strongly recommend placing the symbol at the top or bottom of the visual, centre, left or right aligned. Make sure the alignment is consistent and balanced with the type.

In the case of the connected panels with imagery it’s recommended to place the symbol at the top or bottom of the visual, centre or left aligned.

When creating a series of visuals that will live side by side, make sure the symbol is placed at the same position in all of them.

In order to create the best spacing and alignment for layouts, we’ve created some guidance for landscape and portrait layouts.

There should always be a margin around the composition, clear of any text or logos. The margin and symbol are sized according to the composition.

The symbol and wordmark should never appear as a lock-up in communications. If both are needed, the symbol should play the role of the primary identifier and the wordmark should be used as a sign-off.

On both single panel and connected panel layouts, the symbol and wordmark can be placed in the outer corners.
The symbol should be given a prominent position in the top left or top right corner.

The wordmark should be treated as a sign-off element in the bottom left or bottom right corner.

Note: The unlocked symbol and wordmark cannot be centred. When using a centred logo, opt for the symbol only.

Our symbol is designed to work at small sizes. But there’s only so small it can go while still looking its best.

We’ve defined minimum sizes to give you an idea of the smallest it can go without losing quality.

Our symbol can be scaled all the way down to 5mm in height and still look good. The same goes for the symbol and wordmark lockup.

Our wordmark can be scaled all the way down to 3mm in height.

When we need to lock-up our symbol with a partner’s logo, we align it to the centre of the Telenor symbol.

We should try to keep the same height in both logos, but in circumstances where this doesn’t work, make sure to get the proportions right optically.

We use a 1.2pt line as a divider which is distanced from the logo by 0.5 of the height of our symbol.

When creating partner lock-ups, we primarily use our symbol on its own. If needed we can still pair the symbol with the wordmark to create a better sense of balance.

When we do this we align it to the centre of the Telenor symbol. We should try to keep the same height in both logos but in circumstances where this does not work, make sure to get the proportions right optically.

We use a 1.2pt line as a divider which is distanced from the logo by the height of our symbol.

We primarily use our symbol on its own when locking up with other wordmarks. If needed, we can still pair the symbol with the wordmark.

When we do this we optically align it to the centre of the Telenor symbol using the same type size as our other word mark lock-ups.

Spacing
We distance the Telenor symbol 1/4 of the symbols X height away from wordmark.
